Howard E. Prichard Memorial Scholarship Program
Participants in our Summer Staff program may be eligible for college scholarships through the Howard E. Prichard Memorial Scholarship Program. The scholarship was established in memory of Howard Prichard and his 50+ years of ministry through Bible teaching, Christian music performance, and worship leadership in South Jersey.
The program provides scholarships to attend Christian colleges for staff members completing a summer of service at Harvey Cedars Bible Conference. Winners are selected each August by a committee of conference leadership selected by Director Jonathan Oldham. Scholarship awards are a minimum of $500. Awards are granted based on a staff member’s demonstrated Christian character, servant-like spirit, and positive leadership. Eligible staff members are those who have demonstrated an aptitude in and love of service to the Lord in either of the two specific fields of Bible teaching and/or Christian music performance and/or worship leadership. The committed goal of a candidate must be to pursue a career path to train for ministry as a pastor, Bible teacher, missionary, worship leader, and/or instrumental or vocal performer.
We are pleased to share that two scholarships were awarded this year. The recipients are Christopher Cosenza and Nathan Doorly. Chris has served at HCBC since 2016 including year-round employment and two semesters in the Waypoint gap-year program. He is attending Cairn University, majoring in Youth and Family Ministry. Chris plans to work in youth ministry in a camp setting. Nate has been on Summer Staff since 2018 and served as staff worship leader for two summers. He is attending Boyce College, majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. Nate plans to eventually attend seminary and teach in a Christian school. His ultimate goal is to be a cross-cultural missionary.
