Guidelines

The following guidelines help ensure smooth operation and enjoyment of Harvey Cedars for everyone.

Emergencies & Injuries

Dial 911 and notify main office staff in the event of serious injury.
First-aid equipment is available at the main office, gym, and pool.
The nearest hospital is Southern Ocean Medical Center, about twelve miles away on Route 72 West. (609-597-6011)
Fire escape maps and directions are posted on the inside of each room’s door.

Please come to meals on time. We cannot guarantee service to those who are late.
If you must take meals for a sick guest, please clear with the dining room staff.
You may purchase soda from vending machines in the dining room and the Bayview Lodge laundry room at any time.
Ice machines are in the laundry rooms in Bayview Lodge and Poolside Lodge. Consider others by avoiding taking large amounts at once.
Food and drinks, other than water, are not allowed in the Oldham Chapel or the gym.
Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.

Quiet hours are 10 PM to 7 AM. A night watchman is on duty at the main office during this time. Stay in rooms if your group is scheduled to do so.
Smoking on our grounds or in buildings is not allowed.
Sports and ball activities are only allowed in the gym or outdoors.
Couples who are not married may not share a room.
Sleeping bags and hammocks are not allowed in rooms as they may block emergency escape.
Store bicycles only in racks located around the grounds. They may not be stored on porches or indoors as they may block emergency escape.
Burning things or tampering with smoke alarms is not allowed. String lights and other electric fire hazards are also prohibited. Violation results in a fine.
Do not use tape, nails, paint, or any item or chemical that may damage rooms. Damaging or intentionally leaving marks on property will result in a fine.
Public spaces are monitored with security cameras at all times.
Please check out on time and return all keys to the main office in the Victorian Hotel.
Report all damage and spills to staff members immediately.

There are laundry rooms in Bayview Lodge, Poolside Lodge, The Marsh, and The Cove. Use irons on ironing boards only.
We provide linens and pillows for all rooms. Towels, washcloths, and soap are only provided for rooms with private bathrooms. Please bring your own beach towels, hair dryer, and other personal items.
Toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, laundry detergent, and additional towels are available for an extra cost at the main office in the Victorian Hotel.
Please keep grounds neat by using trash receptacles. Recycling receptacles are for glass, plastic, and aluminum cans only.
During family weeks, our housekeepers freshen all rooms mid-week. “Do not disturb” signs may be used to opt out.

We provide beach access bracelets in the summer. They are required and help lifeguards identify our guests.
Use sidewalks when walking. Enter the beach via Mercer or Middlesex Avenues and do not use private lanes. As parking is limited, it is often best to walk.
Keep off the dunes. The town imposes fines.
Swimming in the bay and diving off the dock are prohibited. Children under 10 years old must be supervised while on the dock.
We ask women to wear one-piece bathing suits or tankinis, and men to wear shorts-style trunks. Shirts or cover-ups should be worn when not at the beach or pool.

A significant part of the Harvey Cedars experience during our events is scheduled devotional and chapel services. We strongly encourage all guests to attend.
Children are expected to attend provided age-appropriate programs or sit with their parents during sessions.
There are two nursery rooms in the chapel for parents with small children and babies. Services may be live-streamed to these rooms.

Please supervise children at all times.
Children under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult at the pool per New Jersey regulations.
The surrounding streets are public. Children and adults should be cautious when crossing streets or riding bicycles on roads.

Please park in designated areas according to the building you are staying in:

Bayview Lodge: parking lot on the north end of the building.
Poolside Lodge: parking lot on the street side of the building or Chapel parking lot. Please do not park in the street.
The Marsh / The Cove: parking lot in front of the building.
Victorian Hotel: parking lot in front of the building or Chapel or Davis Center parking lots.
Captain’s Deck: Davis Center parking lot.
Chapel Dorm: Chapel parking lot.

Be aware of parking areas for those with a handicap or for fire emergency vehicles and delivery vehicles.

We offer printing and copying services at the main office.
If you’ve lost an item, or found an item that may have been lost, notify the main office in the Victorian Hotel with details as soon as possible.
Staff photographers may take photos and videos of activities for use in promotional materials. Please notify them if you do not want your picture taken and used in this manner.
