Summer Family Weeks: A Beloved Tradition!

Summer family weeks have become a cherished retreat for Rae Miller and her family of six from West Creek. With three sons and one daughter Rae’s family finds the conference to be a perfect getaway just 20 minutes from home.

Rae’s introduction to Harvey Cedars came through a friend’s invitation to attend The Grove (an off-season women’s ministry), which later led to her volunteering at the ministry. A few years later, during a Lighthouse Christian Academy auction, the Millers won a stay here for a family week. During their time here, they fell in love with HCBC and return each year.

Staying in The Cove this summer was a great fit for their family. The building provided ample space for a family of six and an extra bathroom, which was essential for their young children. The location offered a peaceful environment, allowing them to put their little ones to bed early and not be disturbed. Their family especially enjoys bringing bikes and scooters to explore the grounds.

The Millers’ family week has become a beloved tradition and something they look forward to each year. They appreciate the sense of community, which offers the opportunity to make new friends and reconnect with old ones. Because of the included meals, various activities and amenities, and solid biblical teaching, Rae states, “Honestly, we left the grounds once in three years. HCBC is our staycation.” For the Millers, HCBC is not just a destination, it’s a special place where faith, fun, and family intertwine.
